WALKING FOR THE FIRST TIME? |
•
Consult the leader beforehand if you have any queries
•
Introduce yourself to the leader at the start, you will be made very welcome
•
Wear strong shoes or walking boots
•
Bring suitable rainwear (a small umbrella may be useful)
•
Some ramblers like to use a walking stick, especially in slippery conditions
| • | Please don't walk in front of the leader | |
•
All walks are circular unless otherwise stated
•
Walks in the Chilterns may be hilly - call the leader if concerned
SAFETY
•
All walkers join the Group walks entirely at their own risk
•
Walk leaders must be current members of the Ramblers' Association
•
In bad weather it is solely up to the leader to change or abandon a walk
| • | On roads keep to single file, close to the right-hand side, unless advised otherwise | |
•
Look behind when turning a corner - don't lose those following you
REFRESHMENTS
•
Always carry sufficient liquid, and some 'iron rations'
•
For all-day walks bring a packed lunch
•
Remember that muddy boots are not popular in pubs
| • Don't consume your own food or drink on the premises | ||
| • Don't expect to use the facilities without buying a drink | ||
