WALKING FOR THE FIRST TIME? |

Consult the leader beforehand if you have any queries | ||
|
• |
Introduce yourself to the leader at the start, you will be made very welcome | ||
|
• |
Wear strong shoes or walking boots | ||
|
• |
Bring suitable rainwear (a small umbrella may be useful) | ||
|
• |
Some ramblers like to use a walking stick, especially in slippery conditions | ||
| • | Please don't walk in front of the leader | ||
|
• |
All walks are circular unless otherwise stated | ||
|
• |
Walks in the Chilterns may be hilly - call the leader if concerned | ||
|
SAFETY |

• |
All walkers join the Group walks entirely at their own risk | ||
|
• |
Walk leaders must be current members of the Ramblers' Association | ||
|
• |
In bad weather it is solely up to the leader to change or abandon a walk | ||
| • | On roads keep to single file, close to the right-hand side, unless advised otherwise | ||
|
• |
Look behind when turning a corner - don't lose those following you | ||
Children are welcome on suitable walks, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. An unaccompanied child over the age of fourteen or a vulnerable adult must have the written permission of a parent, guardian or carer |

Always carry sufficient liquid, and some 'iron rations' | ||
|

For all-day walks bring a packed lunch | ||
|
• |
Remember that muddy boots are not popular in pubs | ||
| • Don't consume your own food or drink on the premises | |||
| • Don't expect to use the facilities without buying a drink | |||
