Ramblers'
Association - Hillingdon and District Group
Get
more out of walking with the Ramblers. This is an easy way to get the
benefits of walking without the need to plan a route, and to enjoy the
company of friendly people with similar interests. Walking is one of
the most popular outdoor leisure activities in Britain; it also helps
you to lead a healthier and more active life.
We
organise a full programme of walks for our members, mainly locally or
in the Chilterns. We also walk further afield in the North Downs, Hertfordshire
and Oxfordshire and occasionally in London. Some of our walks are accessible
by public transport, and we also operate a 'car share' scheme on occasions.
We
also have opportunities to walk in other parts of the country. Last
year we organised a weekend in Shropshire, a week in Brecon Beacons and some mid-week walks in Derbyshire and the New Forest, as well as
a coach ramble to Ashdown Forest in Kent.
In
2008 we have plans for a weekend in Norfolk, another visit to the
Peak District in Derbyshire and a week on Exmoor. We also
organise the occasional social event.
The Ramblers'
Association (Registered Charity No.1093577) operates on both a national
and a local level to encourage walking, protect footpaths and the countryside
and secure access to open country.
